Do we need an Agile Maturity Model?

Recently a new "hot topic" appears to have emerged - do we
need an agile maturity model? There certainly seems to be a
view in parts of the agile community that we do need one as
various organisations are working to produce one. This
however seems to be developing in a very worrying way as I
have discovered through my own research into what these
organisations seem to be proposing.
